The MUSEUM COLLECTION idea was born in 2007 to celebrate the long-awaited harvest of Saperavi grapes from our Kudigora Vineyards. We decided to create a first vintage “time capsule” by transforming it into the classical red sweet reserve wine and aging in wooden barriques for a prolonged period. For comparison, the same has been done with the Alexandrouli grapes, which is the source of another renowned medium sweet wine from western Georgia, Khvanchkara.
Two 250 liter barriques of each, the fermenting wines have been enriched with specially selected, in-house distilled white brandy, to accompany them on the long journey of coexistence with wood, to find the perfect equilibrium and the best expression of the wine dominance over the age.
Aging was performed in the lateral corner of our cellar, far from the temperature fluctuations and vibrations. Through the maturation process, two distinctly different wines in color depth and aroma profiles have been performing beautifully in their own ways. While during all the tastings, their trial blend exceeded both taken separately.
The final blending was made at the end the 2022, resulting in 1300 0.75l bottles. Thus, the first ARTEFACT of our MUSEUM COLLECTION was born.
